Wow, this looks fa-bu-lous – actors . . . costumes . . . cinematography . . . locations . . . the works!!
And, with Peter Dinklage playing Cyrano? Yes, please. I ‘luvbs’ me some him!!
I am also glad to see Kevin Harrison Jr. in a major role. He was excellent as Teddy Greene in Godfather of Harlem. ~ V
Game of Thrones veteran Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) is kinda-sorta returning to a medieval-ish milieu in Cyrano, a new movie musical based on the famous 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand.
Peter Dinklage plays the title role of Cyrano, an intelligent, brave wordsmith who is too insecure to go after the woman he loves, Roxanne (Haley Bennett). Instead, he tells the handsome Christian (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) what to say so Christian can woo her in his stead.
The play has been adapted many times over the years — Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah put their spin on it in the 1987 movie Roxanne, for instance.
This new version is a musical written by Dinklage’s wife Erica Schmidt. Dinklage originally played the role on stage in an off-Broadway production, but clearly, it was so good it had to be committed to film.
