Frank Randall

*Spoilers – If you don’t want to know what happens, stop here!*

Played by Tobias Menzies

Picture1English-born historian in the 20th century, an MI6 officer during WWII and looking forward to a new career at University of Oxford. He is married to Claire Beauchamp Randall. He traces his lineage back to Jonathan Randall (Black Jack Randall), an English officer involved with the Jacobite Rising in 1745, and Mary Hawkins. Frank is a trained officer, who was recruited by MI6 and ran covert operations during WWII.

After the war was over, he takes Claire to Scotland for a second honeymoon to rekindle their relationship.

Although he is very interested in history – has a passion for it, his personal genealogy – and spends a great deal of time during their honeymoon doing research, he does love Claire.

He is her first love.

So, how do we leave Frank at the end of Season 1?

1_End of episode

Frustrated and in despair.

He doesn’t know what happened to Claire or where she is.

And, how did that Scotsman (yes, we know who it is.) get to 1945 for Frank to see him and provide a description of him to the police?
