The remains of Simon Fraser, the 11th Lord Lovat, are being studied by Dundee University to see if they hold the key to the mystery of his resting place. Forensic scientists are exhuming the contents of a coffin said to contain the remains of Simon Fraser, the 11th Lord Lovat.
Fraser, nicknamed the Old Fox, is known today as Jamie Fraser’s grandfather in the Outlander TV and book series.
Dame Sue Black is to study the remains in a bid to solve the 250-year-old mystery about the final resting place of a Highlands clan chief.
According to the official account after being beheaded in 1747, Lord Lovat’s body was buried under the floor of a chapel at the Tower of London.
