Inside ‘Bridgerton’: A Day in the Life of Camera Trainee Sasha Imani

As a camera trainee supporting the entire camera crew of “Bridgerton,” Imani is perhaps one of the busiest bodies on set.

Never has the phrase “it takes an army” been more applicable than with making television — especially a series like Bridgerton. There is, of course, the massive cast of both principals and background players, but perhaps more expansive is the crew, responsible for everything from costumes to makeup to set design to the actual filming of the series.

When it comes to the latter, we tend to think of the people behind the camera — the directors, the directors of photography, and the actual camera operators. But keeping all those individuals squared away and supported are the camera trainees, a less glorified but certainly no less important job on set.

In the video, Bridgerton camera trainee (and aspiring filmmaker) Sasha Imani walks us through her day as possibly one of the busiest bodies on set, ticking off a list that could include everything from setting up monitors to changing camera batteries to replacing lenses, all of which ensure that directors, actors, makeup artists, costumers, and all other crew can see what’s happening on set and respond as necessary.
