Blacklanderz® Speak!

Yes, we are a real group of people, as we mention on our website, and now it’s time to hear from some of us and see who we are!

When we created the blog and website after Outlander S1, the purpose was to get more Black people (as well as others) to watch intellectual television shows, such as Outlander – see About for more information. Although we have not collected all of the clan Blacklanderz® we wanted to post what some had to say about the show. We continue to add more when we receive them.

Note: If you’ve recently gotten into Outlander with the Starz version and would like us to add your quote (no book spoilers), please email it to us at blacklanderz@gmail.com with a head shot and we will kindly add it.

I can’t remember a show I enjoyed as much as Outlander!

Outlander is smart storytelling, intellectually written, emotionally immersive, thought provoking, brave, raw and intense. I truly appreciate how Diana Gabaldon made Claire a strong, intelligent, capable and confident female regardless of the era!

The chemistry between Caitriona and Sam is so palpable, you can’t help but root for them and their relationship. Their characters also show us what it really means to love someone – body, mind and soul til death you part – and, at what lengths a person is willing to go to protect the one person or people he/she loves the most.

I absolutely LOVE Jamie . . . natural leader of men – KING OF MEN!, fighter, loyalist, and above all protector. And, the way he says Sassenach (among other things) is so damn sexy!

I read Dragonfly in Amber immediately after S1 because I didn’t want their story to end; then, I read Voyager! I’m giving myself a break before Drums of Autumn.

More importantly than anything else, being a part of this Outlander fandom has allowed us to connect with fans from all across the globe through social media (we thank ye verra much), and I can’t say that any other book or television series has ever done that . . . Sláinte, Diana Gabaldon!

Can’t wait til Season 2!

JCM

I watched Outlander when the house was quiet so that I could enjoy the entire show. It’s the best writing and plot on television. I was often on the edge of my seat, of course with a glass in hand! Claire is a 21st century woman then and now!

~ Jacqueline – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

DD1 Florida

Outlander is a man’s man series (yeah, I still have my man’s card) that portrays how a real man cares and sacrifices for, respects, protects and loves his woman – a partner and soul mate – at no matter the cost.

Spellbinding! Fierce! Riveting!

Looking forward to the next season!

~ Dwight – Plantation, Florida

DDP

Outlander is one of the best shows ever written – period! It’s provocative, intelligent and a great love story.

Good idea to watch it with your significant other (as I did with my husband) because it can be quite therapeutic for your relationship. Can’t wait for Season 2!

Sam Heughan . . . Sexy, Sexy, Sexy. Need I say more! I love his innocence!

~ Dianne – Atlanta, Georgia

SF

My wife and I haven’t finished watching the first season yet. So, all I will say for now is . . .

My real last name is Frazier (Je Suis Prest), my wife’s name is Claire and is originally from France, and I’m a Mason!

To be continued . . . .

~ Santel – Houston, Texas

KMJ

It was such a roller coaster ride of emotions. I loved every minute of it. After watching Outlander with my husband (though it was hard to watch the last episode), I was disgusted, sad and happy. I even had nightmares.

Outlander is truly a masterpiece!

All of the elements used were so tightly interconnected and authentic from the scenery of Scotland and costumes to the language/dialect. We can’t wait until Season 2.

 ~ Kristal – Houston, Texas

F & M

What a portrait of specticism!

Outlander is a masterpiece that captured my attention, both visually and emotionally. This production allowed me (and us) to observe an historical journey with characters who brought sheer artistry to resurrecting people and events of by-gone years. The writing of intricate lines showcased dialog as authentic and relatable.

All the actors perfected a necessary understanding of their character and the time-period. Remarkably, each one provided a distinctive command of his/her role, which seamlessly allowed his or her relationship with one another, to bounce off the screen, as a finely painted story.

The cinematography had brushed-strokes that were significant, startling, and strong – which complemented the interaction of the characters, yet was viable and essential, as the actors themselves. This artwork, titled Outlander, touched my senses and certainly left me in awe and desiring more.

Its creator, Diana Gabaldon, had a really raw, poignant vision for her canvass. Its producers, writers and editors shared that vision by cultivating and tweaking the story, which enhanced the painting. Its actors masterfully breathed life and soul, with skill and precision, to this work of art; and yet, the eye for attention and details – locations, scenery, dialects and the wardrobe – all framed this picture, as Outlander.

This series is priceless and most definitely worth the escape!

~ Fredi P. (& Mani-San) – New York, New York

H & B

We have become fans of Outlander because it is such a unique drama!

We have never seen a show that combines a love story, full of suspense and intrigue, which also captures the imagination with time travel.

Outlander is one of a kind!

~ Hugh & Blyss – Houston, Texas

Lorinda

I started watching Outlander on Starz the first episode of the first season after seeing the previews. It was so intriguing that I couldn’t wait for the next episode. I remembered reading a book jacket with the same plot so I searched for it on my Kindle. I found the first book, read it in two weeks; then, I read the remaining books within two months.

I’ve been hooked ever since!

I love Jamie; he is a man’s man. Claire is a bold woman, who’s not afraid to get in the mix of anything. This historical fiction is excellent.

~ Lorinda & Bruce – Houston, Texas

Diana Gabaldon’s series catapulted me into a world filled with history, intrigue, love, loss and triumph. She’s one of the few authors that has the power to make me laugh and cry in one simple paragraph.

Eight books in and I’m still as obsessed and captivated by Jamie and Claire’s adventures. Outlander is one of the few TV shows that is true to the books.

There is so much to love about the show from the cast (LOVE EVERY. Single. One. Of. Them), the costumes (Terry Dresbach), to the music (Bear!!)! I am eagerly awaiting S3 and I know it’s worth the wait. Let’s not forget Book 9: Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone.

~ Tami – London, England

I was honored to add my contributions to the Blacklanderz blog in 2016 as this was my first time contributing to blog. I look forward to experiencing the Outlander 2017 season with the Blacklanderz family.  What I love most about the Blacklanderz family is that it provides a forum for us to express our views on intellectual TV without judgment.

If you are not watching Outlander you are missing out on one of the most well written, acted, costumed and scored dramas on TV today! I’m impatiently awaiting Season 3.

~ Iris – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

It’s always been forever, Sassenach.  ~ Jamie to Claire.
From the books to the screen, Outlander is a unique journey of love, family, sacrifice and a bit of magic. It’s been a joy to have this space to converse about our love of Claire and Jamie.
~ Michelle – Washington, District of Columbia

I am a twenty-something-year-old Outlander fan that likes to wear my fandom on my sleeve. L-i-t-e-r-a-l-l-y!

I have recreated several of Claire’s dresses that are based on Terry Dresbach’s designs.

In the colder seasons in New York City, I can often be spotted wearing Outlander coats and scarves. I love to blog and tweet; my current focus is Outlander and the other major period dramas and cosplay. I am also working on the Poldark Costuming Project using a Tumblr blog where I analyze costumes for historical accuracy and teach people how to make their own Poldark inspired recreations. See you around for Outlander S4.

~ Amanda – Brooklyn, New York

I “found” Outlander one rainy Saturday and immediately binged all of S1’s 16 episodes and realized the show is based on the books written by Diana Gabaldon. I then immediately devoured books 1-4!!!

The writing is phenomenal and the chemistry between Sam and Cait is off the charts HOT!!! They captivated me and brought Jaime and Claire to life in such a way that I can’t stop watching.

Blacklanderz has allowed to me be the UBER FAN I did not know I wanted to be!

I love all things Outlander and all things Scotland because of this show…including having a dram.Great show & great cast! Looking forward to many more seasons!!

Tùlach Àrd!

~ Evelyn – San Francisco, California

There are a number of reasons why I love the books and the show.

I was experiencing one of the most difficult periods of my life right about when Outlander (the show) first premiered; therefore I did not read/hear about it. During that period, I was encouraged by friends to “get out of my funk”; spend more time with them and also look for some fun things to do. My closest friends also know I love reading just as much as I’m into sports. Growing up in Italy, I played volleyball, basketball and soccer, so I started to see if I could find some audio books that I could incorporate into my activities.
While scrolling through the wonder that is the world wide web, I stumbled on Outlander. Now, I’m an 80’s baby, an adolescent of the 90’s so I thought, this must be a remake of Highlander; If so I’m in!!  Well, that was a shocker!
I was hooked from the first scenes; particularly since I love period drama’s and  Caitriona Balfe’s narration (from what I now know to be the prologue of Outlander; the book) captivated me. The costumes and dialogues are phenomenal. And speaking of costumes, during the Skye Boat Song, the dichotomy of the new world somehow intermingling with old fascinated me! The multi lingual lad in the kilt, which in of itself was enough to give a girl goosebumps for days, was not the only captivating element. The beautiful landscapes and highlands also reminded me of my own country of Ethiopia so I kept on watching.
I also wanted to know more about the characters; so when I found the audio books, I was once again immersed!
What I have learned through this journey is that Diana Gabaldon is a genius; and I don’t say that lightly. There are so many life lessons to gleam through these stories that a simple blog would not do it justice. But if there is one thing I could say to her is thank you. Thank you for helping me to understand people’s limitations as well as mine. Thank you for inspiring me to pick myself up by the bootstraps, dust myself off and turn over a new leaf. These couple of Outlandish years, I have sighed, laughed, cried and everything in between and my friends have seen the difference it has made in my life. Above all, I got out of my funk and back to my old happy, life-loving self.

To quote a passage from The Fiery Cross “You invent yourself…You look at other women-or men; you try on their lives for size. You take what you can use, and you look inside yourself for what you can’t find elsewhere. And always…always…you wonder if you’re doing it right.”

~ Helina – Washington, District of Columbia

I was first drawn to Outlander Season 1 by the beauty of the Scottish scenery, the mystery of the Standing Stones, and the bittersweet relationship triangle between Claire, Jamie, and Frank.

Once I read the books, I became obsessed with what could possibly be the greatest love story ever told. I can’t wait to see more seasons on TV!

~ Marva – San Angelo, Texas

I didn’t know anything about Gabaldon’s eight-book series of major novels (number nine, Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone, is on the way – soon I hope) when Outlander first debuted on Starz in the summer of 2014.

I’m a regular reader of The New York Times Book Review and I vaguely recall seeing the first Outlander book on the best-seller list maybe three or four years ago.

But at the time, the one sentence description – something along the lines of “A World War II-era British nurse goes through magic standing stones and lands in Scotland 200 years in the past” – just didn’t attract my interest. British nurse goes back in time to 18th Century Scotland? “Nah, I think I’ll pass,” I thought at the time.

I know. I know.

I can hear those of you in Outlander land laughing your heads off, especially those who first began reading the books some 25 years ago. I have found out that once you get a taste of what Outlander has to offer, you get hooked. You come back for more.

And now, I am hooked. I’ve read all eight of the main Outlander series books, those massive tomes that transport you back in time filled with lush descriptions of everything from the landscape to the food, to the weaponry, to the mores, to the speech, to the historical figures interwoven with the fictional characters. There’s palace intrigue, murder and all manner of mayhem. And of course, great sex! Gabaldon’s writing is filled with wit, great humanity and a deep wellspring of love. That’s what keeps me coming back for more. For me, the television show has been true to that spirit; so much so, that the books and the show led to my summer Scottish Journey!

I suppose it comes down to the chemistry between the two lead actors, Caitriona Balfe as Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp Randall Fraser and Sam Heughan as Jamie, that is, James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser. Their attractiveness individually and as a couple is seductive. And, despite being in the fantasy/science fiction genre, there’s a believability to it, a realness, if you will, that is anchored by the relationship that unfolds in a bewitching manner between Claire and Jamie.

~ Olivia – Long Island, New York

One day I was watching television, not like any other day, and I saw a commercial for a new show coming to Starz. The premise was intriguing and so I decided to watch the season premiere.

That was the beginning of the end for me. Outlander had me hooked. The story line-phenomenal!…and the fact that I knew none of the actors was even better. No preconceived notions of what they were capable of or not. From the opening scene I was in love.

As the show progressed, I learned that this series that I loved, was based upon books. Well, if you knew me growing up, you knew that reading was not on top of my list of things to do. As with most things in life, age brings knowledge. I bought Outlander prior to my 40th birthday trip to London in 2014. Thank goodness for the books, so much more detail. I have completed the series and now re-read each book prior to the relevant season premiere.

Then one day, I was strolling around Twitter and lo and behold, I discovered that there is an entire group of Outlander lovers who look just like me. I’ve never cared much for the demographic that watched any show that I did but this group appealed to me. I am looking forward to this coming season and sharing my opinions with the Blacklanderz family.

~ Erica – Woodbridge, New Jersey

I discovered Outlander when a casual friend mentioned the show in passing and suggested that as a physician, I’d probably enjoy a story about a nurse.   I watched the first episode not expecting much, then binge watched the two seasons over that weekend.

When I saw in the credits that the series was based on books, I ordered all eight on the spot and read them back to back over the next two months. I was recovering from an illness at the time and had a lot of time and angst on my hands.  The show and books came into my life when I needed a distraction most.

I became obsessed in a way I didn’t recognize – Diana’s books spoke to me in a language I had never heard before, but that I understood clearly and was somehow fluent.

I’ve watched TV shows and movies that have affected me, I have read books that have stayed with me for years, but nothing has engulfed me in the way Outlander has.

~ Catherine – Aiken, South Carolina

Several years ago when I was about half-way through reading the first Outlander book, I stopped and immediately bought the rest in the series. I just had to have them right then. Then I devoured them in less than 2 weeks. Having the show on Starz only makes the fan experience better.

Just seeing the beauty of Scotland, and of course watching Jamie and Claire’s love story unfold is must-watch TV. It’s like the pages are alive. I’m excited for S3 & 4, my favorite books in the series.

Outlander is such great escapism for this secretly hopeless romantic.

~ Tqwana – Miami, Florida

Well, first off, I found out about Outlander (the show) on a whim one weekend last April. I was bored and looking for something new to watch On Demand. Something told me to just give it a shot and I was instantly hooked from that very first episode. Since then, I have totally immersed myself in the show, books (currently on book 7), podcasts, collecting of memorabilia, etc. Of course, I am equally obsessed with all the actors and folks tied to the show.

Cait and Sam were born to play Claire and Jamie, as well as the other brilliant actors in their respective roles. Most important of all is Mrs. Diana Gabaldon. If not for her, we wouldn’t have any of this fantasy to partake in. I think that’s what I love the most about all things Outlander, the whimsy. Real life can be so demanding, draining and hard. I have always turned to TV, film and books as an escape; this show and its source material have been true companions and comfort during this last year or so. I look forward to the remainder of this season, S4 and beyond. I don’t know how realistic/feasible it will be moving forward to continue the show, but I am praying that Ron, Maril and Starz find a way. Regardless, I am grateful for the sheer brilliance they have been able to produce thus far.

Again, I am so thankful to have found a community for people of color who adore this series as much as I do. Though I hate the concept and false construct of race, I can’t dispute the importance of feeling camaraderie among other fans, especially those who look like me. I look forward to the possible discussions we will have.

~Kandra – Springfield, Ohio

Since May of this year, my friend (Helina) has been talking about this book and show called Outlander. I ignored her for a very long time until she finally made me promise to give it a try. So, I did. When I got into the first episode, I was really blown away by the love that Frank and Claire had for each other. But then, I became intrigued later on as she went through the stones and encountered Black Jack Randall, who tried to rape her and she was rescued. As a rape survivor, I like to see people get rescued from such a heinous act. I watched with anticipation and out of curiosity to see how the entire story was going to turn out. I enjoy watching the time period by which it exists and that of the entire Scottish nation.

Later, I was captured by Claire and Jamie, as they fell in love. In October, I accompanied Helina to New York City to see if we could run into Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan outside the restaurant where they were having a charity event. For the show to be such a huge success, the atmosphere that night was very intimate. Only a few people showed up at the restaurant in hopes of grabbing a photo with them and I began to love the show even more. I have never been a fan of anyone in such a way to travel so many miles with the hopes of seeing them and to have such an experience was awesome. I binged all of the episodes in the past three weeks and am caught up with the current season.

~ Aileen –  Waldorf, Maryland

The show came into my life at a time where I was in need of an escape. Every Saturday, I was transported to a time and place that completely enchanted me. I fell madly and deeply in love with Sam Heughan as James Fraser.

Although I have a love/hate relationship with the books, the show will always have a soft spot in my heart.

~ Tyrese – Hyattsville, Maryland

Where do I start?

Outlander literally changed my life (that’s another story for another day). Being a history lover and having ancestral roots in Scotland, when I read in an article that the books were being turned into a TV series, I immediately started searching for them. I listened to all eight on audio books and I fell deeper and deeper in love with each book.

I learned a lot from Claire’s character about being a strong passionate woman, who is not afraid to be true to herself and the man she loves. I also learned from Jamie’s character about the deep nature of a man and about marriage – one that evolves, and yet remains firm and strong. I LOVE EVERYTHING OUTLANDER! The book coming to life on screen is the best of television ever. I hope more people get to know about the beautiful world created by Diana.

~ Gail-Ann – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

I was introduced to the books back in 2009-10. Excellent and compelling writing, engaging story and characters that feel like family. I didn’t know what I was reading or in for; I was just sucked in and allowed Diana Gabaldon to take me on a journey.

What a journey it has been and continues to be.

I learned about the TV show in 2013 and have been a devoted fan of it ever since. The attention to detail shown all around just makes this a great show to watch and to devour. The sets, direction, writing, casting, acting, music, and cinematography are just on par with no other show. It’s like these creative people read the books and wanted to respect the work as they brought it to life.

I’m here for it!

~ Ayana – West Sacramento, California

My love for Outlander is almost indescribable. I’m being dramatic of course, but it’s really hard to explain the magic that is Outlander. I’ve always been a big history buff and had a love for culture and folklore. Not to mention I’m a huge fan of any and all things that are even close to romance.

Outlander just checked all the boxes for me. I was first introduced through the show but picked up the books immediately after and read all eight in less than two months. When I first started, I did little else but read because Diana instantly captured my heart. It was Claire’s wit and temper that reminded me of myself. And Jamie’s charm, honor and kindness that drew me in right from the start. It’s really a tragic story considering all that Jamie, Claire and their family go through. Yet, Diana finds a way to make us almost forget about all the horror because of the love her main characters share.

You go through so many emotions when reading (and watching) this series that you can’t help but become invested. I really appreciate the fact that Jamie and Claire’s relationship is set 200 years in the past, but it is more modern than most you’d see today. It’s one of the things that is so magnetic about Outlander (other than the fact that JAMMF is the King of Men). However, the most special thing about Outlander is that while Jamie and Claire are these exceptional and larger than life figures, I see parts of them in myself and my partner every day.

~ Alaina – Prince George’s County, Maryland

My favorite part of Outlander are the dynamics characters. Claire as the modern-day feminist in the 1700’s is a true Shero.

I also love that the cast is becoming more diverse. I especially love Joe Abernathy as her best friend and confidant. I wish they would have given him more on screen time. Especially with the story line of his son becoming a Muslim.

~ Gwen – Washington, District of Columbia

Even though it’s historical fiction, I love Outlander because the relationships and character development are so relatable and realistic.

And, although the period in which the story takes place was a time when people weren’t as forward thinking as they are today, I also love how they still manage to have characters that display emotional intelligence and have the capacity to think progressively.

Of course, the love story between Jamie and Claire is so powerful. I have never seen another fictional couple like theirs. Outlander has been a great way to bond with my friends and family, and it’s even helped me make more friends since I started watching it. See pictures from my recent Outlander Tour.

~ Margot – Boston, Massachusetts

The first ads of Outlander got my attention in 2014. I like history and period movies and television shows, as well as science fiction and action.
It seemed that a historical fiction, mixed with fantasy and Highland Warriors would be perfect for me. I was impressed with the looks of the show and knew I liked it midway the first episode.
Thus began my obsession with the show, the books, Scotland, the cast, the crew and all the new friends I’ve met along this journey.
~ Vanita – Columbus, Ohio and South Florida

While looking for something to watch on television, I came across Outlander. After that, I was hooked. It was S3; yes, I’m a late starter. One weekend, I binged-watched all the seasons. Then, I ordered all the books. After six months, I had read them all. Now, it is like an addiction.

I have always loved time travel stories, and this one has it all. However, it is much more than that. It is a never-ending adventure – their life and how they just seem to fall into the craziest predicaments. I love the connection between Claire and Jamie. Their love affair is something you just cannot help but cheer for and hope it succeeds.

Yes, I am looking forward to the start of S4; while I am also waiting for the next book (Go Tell The Bees I Am Gone) to come out.

~ Bonetta – Kansas City, Missouri

Outlander is everything and more! It is honestly in a league of its own and has everything: the chemistry between the leads, the cinematography, the sets, costumes, the music, the source material, the filming locations, etc.

Then, there is this amazing love story at the center of it all. This element of the show makes it even more incredible because of the way in which this love story is woven into the story. It is done so effortlessly.

Outlander is the best show on TV.  I could go on and on about this incredible show because it really is that good.

~ Jessica – Chicago, Illinois / Cincinnati, Ohio

Outlander takes me away from the stress of the world.

I love the characters, the story arc, and well Sam Heughan! It reminds me of all the romance novels I read in high school; so, it’s my guilty pleasure/obsession.

~ Andrea – Washington, District of Columbia (DMV)

I first heard of Outlander from my friend Margot, who is also part of Blacklanderz. I love that it is a historical show with fully developed female characters. It is such a unique story concept- combining time traveling, romance, and Scottish history; but it is still somehow relatable.

The characters have real conflicts and triumphs; I can’t help but love them. I can see how much care goes into the show with the beautiful costumes and set, which makes watching it even more worthwhile. It has been great being part of the Outlander community, and I am slowly making my way through the books as well!

~ Jessica H. – Boston, Massachusetts

I discovered Outlander one evening in 2016 when I was flipping through channels searching for something to watch. I had passed over it a few times, but something made me stop and watch this time. It was S2, Epi4.

I was hooked immediately! Quickly, I found S1 and spent an entire weekend binge watching until I caught up!I was entranced by the story, the acting, the sets, the costumes, just everything!

I’ve since gone on to read all the books several times and I must confess I am obsessed with Outlander. The show and books have given me hours of entertainment, not escapism because the content of the show and books tackle some heavy material. But for the most part, it is extremely well done in the TV show and I think the books are modern day classics.

A bonus of my Outlander obsession is that I have met some wonderful people who are now treasured friends and I look forward to meeting many more.

~ Antoinette – Atlanta, Georgia

I love Outlander! I stumbled upon this incredible show in the summer of 2019 and have been obsessed with it.

I suppose I was hooked from the opening credits with the gorgeous scenery and Claire’s voice-over. Drawn to the costume design, complicated plot and strong female characters, I binged the first two seasons on Netflix and immediately purchased the STARZ app to complete the rest of it.

As I explored the historical aspect of the show and grew obsessed with the relationships between the main couple, Jamie and Claire, I realized that I was learning as well. I especially recall a moment of revelation during S4 when I watched an episode that focused on slavery and the obstacles that were involved in trying to free slaves.

I appreciated the show’s approach to the subject and the subtle ways in which information had been woven into the plot. Having this new obsession prompted me to engage with the people in my life about the show, but no one was as interested as I.

I found the Outlander family on Twitter and have been so busy since. I’m now reading the books and fanfics, as well as planning to attend future events. I could not believe there was a Blacklanderz group and I signed up not knowing what to expect.

Six months later, I met Vida at Wizard World in NOLA along with other Blacklanderz members. I was so excited to discover that this group also held group Outlander activities. My schedule keeps me unable to travel often, but I do plan to participate in Outlander conferences when I can.

~ Sara – Atlanta, Georgia

I became aware of Outlander about six months before Season 1 aired. I saw a few friends posting about the new show and the great books. I love period dramas, so I immediately dove into them. I devoured all the books and continue to re-read them.

I love the character of Jamie Fraser. And, the relationship between Jamie and Claire is one of the best I’ve seen in a very long time.

From the beginning, I became obsessed with Outlander. I cannot wait for S5. I have a feeling it’s going to blow us all away.

~ Bella – Los Angeles, California

I discovered the Outlander series during 2019.

What I remember most is being captivated by the sheer beauty of this show. The cinematography was purely breathtaking! The entire production, costumes, and writing were equally high quality. The plots were so intriguing! The cast was stellar…the set designs were so creative and purely magical! I remember binge watching all four seasons at that time (which I have repeated many times over since then).

Somewhere along the way, I realized this series was based on books by Diana Gabaldon, and I just had to get my hands on them, binge reading them too! Diana may just be the most gifted, talented writer of stories I have ever read. Her books are so well written; they just draw you in, making it extremely difficult to put them down. Moreover, Diana developed such rich characters that her storylines took surprising turns in an instant, catapulting my emotions in such a way that could be utterly exhausting at times!

Little did I know that this series, and the books it was based on, would become one of my favorite experiences in life!

~ Marsha – Cleveland, Ohio

Outlander is one of the most epic love stories I have ever read! The story of Claire and Jamie is one of passionate love, friendship and respect for one another and it is just incredible to watch. They are both strong-willed characters who take us through the most emotional journey; you can’t help but be deeply drawn in.

At a time when I needed an escape, I discovered the TV show one Thanksgiving break. I binged all the episodes, and it suffice to say, I haven’t been the same since! I immediately began reading the books for more any little chance I had.

I love everything about Outlander – the lead actors have an electrifying on-screen chemistry. With the books/series being historical fiction, I also learned more about Scottish culture and the Jacobite rising.

I have re-watched the show more times than I can count. The Dragonfly in Amber episode is one of my favorites, and I never get tired of watching it again and again!

Outlander is the first fandom I have been moved to follow and participate in on social media.

YES, it’s that serious!

I commend the hard work and dedication from the cast and crew to bring the book series to life and I’m excited to see where S6 takes us next year.

~ Catherine (Caty) – Nashville, Tennessee
